Grants Roofing & Restoration is a Paisley roofer and one of the businesses in the Our Advertisers slider on paisley.org.uk. Our last feature looked at the firm’s roughcasting and re-roofing jobs. With the clocks about to go back, this one looks at the smaller but just as important jobs it has shared on its Facebook page over the years: garage and flat roofs, chimneys, leadwork and weather repairs.
Where to find them
The business is based on Brown Street in Paisley and works across Renfrewshire and nearby areas. Its Facebook page is its main online presence.

Garage and flat roofs
Garage roofs come up often on the page, and the posts describe the same thorough approach each time:
July 2020: a garage roof in very poor condition was replaced with new trusses, plywood and two layers of high-performance torch-on felt, plus new copes, fascia and gutters.
March 2021: a garage roof was stripped back to the joists, fully boarded and finished with two layers of high-performance heat-bonded felt. New plastic went on the front of the garage and both doors were painted.
April 2021: a garage roof and canopy were stripped back to the timbers and given two layers of heat-bonded felt, with new down-stand trim and new deep-flow gutters.
July 2021: another garage roof was stripped back to the joists, with new plywood and two layers of heat-bonded felt.
Back in February 2018, the firm also posted a job with two new flat roofs using three layers of high-performance heat-bonded felt.
Chimneys: repair or remove
Chimneys that let in water are a recurring theme. In a July 2020 post, the firm made the point that “sometimes it’s better to remove the chimney rather than do lead work and roughcasting.” Its posts show both routes:
Removal: two chimneys taken down with timber work and new slates to both areas, which the firm said ended the property’s water ingress and dampness (November 2017); a chimney removed because of severe water ingress (March 2019); and a dangerous chimney removed, with the chimney breast taken back to the brick and roughcasted (November 2019).
Repair: in October 2020, a chimney got all-new leadwork, roughcasting and a new cope, with new plastic gutters fitted round the full property. A photo from that job is at the top of this feature.
Leadwork and roof windows
Lead is what keeps water out where a roof meets a wall or chimney, and several posts show it being renewed. In April 2018 the firm fitted a new lead skew in code 5 lead, with new 12mm exterior plywood and high-performance mineral felt across the cope area. A February 2018 job included two new lead flanks, also in code 5 lead. In September 2020 it worked in Largs on what it described as failed repairs by other roofers, renewing all the leadwork and laying high-performance felt over the full cope area.
Roof windows feature too. In April 2020, a customer’s two Velux windows were stripped back and supported with new timbers, along with about 40 tile repairs around the windows and across the roof.
Weather and emergency repairs
The page has a long record of offering help when the weather turns. The firm invited calls after the Beast from the East in March 2018 and after Storm Ali in September 2018, posted a weather warning in January 2020, and offered emergency repairs during poor weather in October 2020. It has also offered emergency repairs over the festive period, most recently in December 2023, and once reminded followers that “blocked gutters cause problems.”
The flyer lists the full range of work: gutter and downpipe repairs, roofs repaired or renewed, painting of fascias, soffits and downpipes, uPVC gutters, fascias and soffits, lead valleys, cement work, roughcasting, flat roofs and slating.

The firm doesn’t publish opening hours or prices online. Call or message through Facebook to arrange a free estimate and check availability.
