Where to Eat in Paisley

There's something special about eating out in your own town. You're not just paying for a plate of food, you're backing the people who make Paisley what it is. And right now the town's restaurant scene is in really good shape. We've got long-standing favourites that have been feeding Buddies for decades, plus a few fresh faces opening their doors.

So whether you're planning a family dinner, a catch-up with pals, or you just can't face cooking tonight, here's our pick of where to eat in Paisley. There's a bit of everything below: Italian, Indian, Chinese and Scottish. What they've all got in common is good quality food, a menu worth taking your time over, and the kind of friendly customer service that makes you want to go back.

A New Arrival: The Eggs Nest

Let's start with the newest one. The Eggs Nest has just opened right next door to Il Pescatore on Causeyside Street, and folk are already talking about it. As the name gives away, breakfast and brunch are what it's all about. Proper eggs done however you fancy them, hearty rolls, and a decent morning coffee to go with it.

It's exactly the sort of independent place Paisley does so well, and sitting right beside one of the town's best-loved seafood restaurants, that whole corner is turning into a wee food destination of its own. If you've not been yet, stick your head in. New places live and die on word of mouth, and by all accounts the food and the welcome are both spot on. Let us know what you think.

Pendulum: Scottish Cooking with a View of the Abbey

Sitting in a lovely old building on Gauze Street, Pendulum Bar & Grill is one of those places that just gets it right. The menu leans into proper Scottish comfort cooking, your steaks, burgers and pies, and you get a cracking view of Paisley Abbey through the window while you eat.

It's relaxed but not scruffy, and it works just as well for a lazy lunch as it does for a proper sit-down dinner. Regulars are quick to praise the attentive staff and the easy atmosphere, and the prices won't give you a fright either. A safe bet when you want good food and good company in the middle of town.

Trattoria Genova: Paisley's Little Corner of Italy

If it's Italian you're after, Trattoria Genova on Glasgow Road takes some beating. It's a genuinely well-loved spot, the kind of place that's always busy for a reason, and it's earned that reputation through years of consistently lovely food and warm, friendly service.

The menu is full of the classics done well: homemade pasta, wood-fired pizzas, fresh seafood and steaks, all cooked to order. Diners go on about the generous portions and the great value, and the two and three course set menu is a favourite if you fancy making a proper night of it. Leave room for the homemade tiramisu, it's a bit of a local institution. One word of warning though, it gets busy, so book ahead.

Multan Tandoori: Award-Winning Indian Dining Since 1988

When you start talking about Paisley institutions, Multan Tandoori on George Street is right near the top. It's the oldest established Indian restaurant in the town, serving since 1988, and the wall of awards tells you most of what you need to know about the quality coming out the kitchen.

And there's been some serious recognition over the years. Restaurant of the Year for South West Scotland at the Scottish Curry Awards, Best Indian Restaurant in Renfrewshire more times than we can count, and a Scottish Asian Food Award as recently as 2025. The trophies are nice, but it's the cooking that keeps people coming back. Everything's freshly prepared to order, the tandoori dishes are marinated for a full 24 hours, and there's a depth of flavour you just don't get everywhere.

It's unpretentious, properly authentic, and the kind of place you walk out of feeling thoroughly looked after. If you've somehow never been, this one's essential. Have a look at their full menu and you'll understand why people travel from all over Renfrewshire to eat here.

Kwang Tung: Half a Century of Cantonese Cooking

Just along the road, also on George Street, you'll find another of the town's real veterans. Kwang Tung has been serving authentic Chinese food to Paisley for over 50 years. It was one of the very first Chinese restaurants in the town, and it's still a firm favourite today.

After a spell as takeaway-only, the restaurant side reopened to a fair bit of excitement, and dining in is a treat again: pleasant, relaxed surroundings, soft music in the background, and that warm family-run feel. The food's fresh and full of flavour, the portions are generous, and the staff look after every customer like a regular. People keep coming back for the quality of the ingredients and the friendly service, and the lunch deal is famously good value. Browse the menu online and you'll find proper Cantonese classics with decades of know-how behind them.
