If you've been thinking about a Masters or going back to study while you work, UWS, the University of the West of Scotland, is holding a Postgraduate Open Evening at its Paisley Campus on High Street on Thursday 19 November. UWS is one of the organisations in the Our Advertisers slider on paisley.org.uk. We've already covered the Paisley Campus and its facilities and the undergraduate open day and Subject Showcase, so this time we've looked at what UWS says about postgraduate study.

Postgraduate Open Evening: Thursday 19 November

According to UWS, the open evening is a chance to explore its range of postgraduate programmes, meet academics, tour the facilities and get questions answered, as well as meet current students and other people applying for postgraduate study.

The event page lists the evening as 6pm to 7pm, while the main postgraduate events page shows 5pm to 7pm, so check the time when you register. Registration is through the Postgraduate Autumn Open Evening event page.

Online information sessions

If you can't get to High Street, UWS also runs online Postgraduate Information Sessions covering its courses, how to apply, funding and the support available, with time for questions. The dates listed on its postgraduate events page are Thursday 29 October (6pm to 7pm) and Thursday 26 November 2026, then 28 January, 25 February, 24 June and 26 August 2027. Registration links are on the postgraduate events page.

What UWS says about postgraduate study

  • Three start dates a year. UWS says it offers postgraduate intakes in September, January and May.
  • Full-time, part-time and online. UWS says its part-time postgraduate courses are designed so you can keep working while you study. Courses it highlights for part-time study include MSc Advanced Biomedical Science, MSc Advanced Drone Technology and MSc Digital Marketing.
  • Masters in Professional Practice (MProf). This lets you build your own programme from modules across UWS. UWS says it can be studied online or at any of its campuses and takes one and a half years full-time or two to three years part-time.
  • Research degrees. UWS offers postgraduate research degrees and professional doctorates, including the MRes, MPhil, PhD, DBA and DProf.
  • For UWS graduates. UWS says its graduates get a 20% tuition fee discount when applying for full-time Masters and research degrees, and current students can use a Fast Track application.

Fees and funding

UWS publishes tuition fees for taught postgraduate courses on each course's own web page, with separate figures for Scottish, rest-of-UK, Republic of Ireland and international students. Its postgraduate fees and funding page also has guidance on funding for Scottish, English, Welsh, Northern Irish, EU and international students. Fees vary by course, so check the course page for the one you're interested in.

Getting there

UWS says parking is available all day via the Lady Lane entrance. Another UWS page describes Lady Lane parking as limited and suggests the Paisley Shopping Centre car park nearby. Paisley Gilmour Street station is around a 10-minute walk from the main entrance, according to UWS.
