Tonight's Paisley Halloween Festival events (Saturday 24 October) have been cancelled because of the severe weather forecast, including an amber weather warning for wind from Storm Boelo.

Lucy Adamson, Renfrewshire Council's head of marketing, communications and events, said: "Unfortunately, a forecast for severe weather means we have decided to cancel today's events at the Paisley Halloween Festival.

"We're very sorry for any inconvenience caused but public safety is our priority, and we want our events to be safe and enjoyable for everyone."

Grandstand tickets will be refunded

Anyone who bought grandstand seating for tonight will get a refund and will be contacted directly by email, so there's no need to do anything.

A great first night

The council thanked everyone who came out on Friday, including the community performers, volunteers and partners "who helped create such a fantastic atmosphere across the town." If you missed it, our first-night recap has the photos from the Haunted House parade.

It's a disappointing end to the weekend, but it's the right call. Stay safe tonight, and keep an eye on the weather warnings if you need to travel.
