Paisley Halloween Festival cast its spell over the town centre tonight (Friday 23 October), as thousands turned out for the first night of one of Scotland's biggest Halloween celebrations.

The free event transformed the streets into a spine-tingling spectacle of light, music and street theatre, with families and visitors finding something to enjoy around every corner.

A Haunted House parade

The highlight was the festival's Halloween parade, bringing this year's Haunted House theme to life. Crowds lined the route as hundreds of professional and local community performers made their way through the town centre in a dazzling show of colour, costume and creativity.

The town was dressed in its spooky best too, with monster installations and eerie lighting on some of Paisley's best-known buildings, including the Town Hall and the Museum.

The festival is delivered by Renfrewshire Council's events team in partnership with performance specialists Cirque Bijou and lighting experts Woodroffe Bassett Design.

What about Saturday?

The second night is due to take place on Saturday 24 October. With an amber weather warning for wind from Storm Boelo in place for Saturday evening, organisers are keeping a close eye on the forecast and will give an update on Saturday morning. Check before you travel; we'll share the decision here as soon as it's confirmed. Our earlier update on the weekend plans has more background.
