Residents across Renfrewshire are being urged to suggest neighbourhood improvements through the second year of the YouDecide Tenants Fund.
The fund will invest £600,000 over three years in projects suggested by tenants and residents, with council tenants then voting on which ideas get funding. The deadline for Year 2 ideas is Sunday, 27 September.
Sixteen projects were chosen in Year 1 after a local vote, including new pathways, seating and planters, community notice boards, improvements to communal closes and designated bin storage.
Ideas can include environmental improvements, fencing, gates, lighting and other work to improve neighbourhoods. Information sessions have been held in libraries and communities to help tenants develop and submit proposals.
The fund was developed with the Tenants’ Scrutiny Panel and gives tenants a direct say in how part of the housing budget is spent. It allocated £150,000 in Year 1, £250,000 in Year 2 and £200,000 in Year 3, to be distributed across council housing areas.
Councillor Marie McGurk, Convener of Housing and Communities, said Year 1 showed the difference tenants can make when they have a direct say, and encouraged more ideas before 27 September.
