Simple Minded are playing at The Bungalow tonight. Simple Minded is a tribute band for Simple Minds based in Scotland. They formed in the fall of 2008. The idea was to be a band true to the Simple Minds spirit and performance and that is exactly what they do. Expect a mind blowing authentic live performance from this top band with all the classics and songs from the entire Simple Minds catalogue Tickets on the door from 7pm.

Jericho Hill return after a packed out sing a long/dance along show at their last Bungalow session. Get to hear all the Johnny Cash favourites and more. It is a Free Entry Christmas Show tomorrow afternoon. Doors are 1pm and get in early if you want a seat.

After playing their first gig at The Bungalow Absolute Weller are back again live tomorrow night. As the name suggests, this expanded repertoire encapsulates all the music from the entire career of Mr. Weller, and allows us to include solo classics such as ‘You Do Something to me’ and ‘Broken Stones’ as well as Style Council hits such as ‘You’re the Best thing’, ‘Shout to the top’ and ‘My Ever changing moods’, as well as the usual smattering of Jam hits like ‘Town Called Malice’, ‘Start’ and ‘Going Underground’. A Absolute must for Jam, Style Council and Weller Fans. Tickets on the door from 7pm.

On Sunday evening it is a free entry Christmas Eve show with Soul Divas, Doors open 1pm an goes on till 6pm. There will be a dance area so seating will be on a first come basis and there is no reservation. The Bungalow Jam is on from 7pm on Tuesday. The Bungalow have Aimless Nomads, Ivory and Careo on the bill for their Thursday Introducing Night. Tickets £5/3 students, doors 7pm.

Good to see Rocknrollas are getting on with booking great bands. They have Born of Frustration the Scottish tribute to James in tomorrow night. I saw them the last time they were there and I had a great night. Doors open 7pm, U18s allowed until 11pm with an adult.

The Cave have The Memories playing tomorrow at 5pm and later Overdrive will be kicking off at 8pm. No music on Sunday but pop into their Christmas Market between 3pm and 7pm. On boxing day Black Triangles are playing from 6pm or as it says on the poster 6ish.

Local rockers Wreckless are at The Old Swan tonight from 7pm and tomorrow afternoon Headhunters kick off at 4pm followed by local singer Stephen Henry. The Northern Soul Club is on Sunday starting at 4pm and on the decks as usual are John and Maria, then on Boxing Day Proposal are playing from 5pm and after they finish Stephen Henry is back to play more from 9pm. Duncan McLellan is playing on Wednesday at 4pm and on Thursday at 3pm Lee James will be singing and telling funny stories, many of them about Klaus the German who is his biggest fan. (Andy Boyd to everyone else)

The Keg welcome Canyon back for another guitar driven set at 9pm tonight and MrDb return to perform their ‘Rawk God’ set of full-on rock classics tomorrow night at 9pm. On Christmas Eve join in the fun and sing along with Johnny Barrand The Keg Sessions start at 9pm on Thursday. Steven Lavery will be playing at Kennedys on Sunday from 3pm.

Open Mic nights so far looks like this. The Gantry at 9pm on Tuesday and The Keg starts at 8.30pm on Wednesday. Check venues for details. I hope you and your family all have a very Merry Christmas. This a time to think of others so if you can look in on someone that you know that is maybe struggling at this time of year, I’m sure you will get your Angel Wings.Have a great time and Keep Music Live.
