Great to see Esperanza are back at The Bungalow tonight. Esperanza is a nine-piece Ska collective from Glasgow famed for live shows where their infectious rhythm has the crowd involuntarily jumping in time. The band has supported some of the biggest names in Ska, including Toots and the Maytals, The Skatalites, Bad Manners, The Beat, The Heptones and The Toasters. In support is Rudebeard. Doors at 7pm tickets £9.

Tomorrow afternoon the very popular Cosmopolitan Big Band a Glasgow-based 20 piece crew will be playing a mix of swing standards and funk/soul tunes. Starts at 2pm, doors are 1pm and it is Free Entry. In the evening Complete Stone Roses the UK’s most well-known, most seen and most authentic Stone Roses tribute band play another packed out show at The Bungalow. Doors 7pm and tickets are £12

Monday as part of The Tannahill Festival The Well Happy Band kick off things with their up-beat songs about happiness, love, life, laughter and gratitude.  This lot are bound to keep a smile on your face long after the show is over. Expect the band’s unique blend of brass, percussion and keyboards, as well as their signature combination of performance, laughs and audience participation. Doors are at 7pm and it is Free Entry.

The Tannahill Festival continues on Tuesday with a one-act play ‘THE END’ by Karen Herbison. The night is a sort of A Play, A Pub, A Pint or Prosecco and Patter. Doors at 7pm and tickets are £10. Followed by a Q and A hosted by Script to Stage Renfrewshire.

On Thursday The Bungalow Bar and Events staff get a chance to perform both original and cover material in their own gaff. The lineup of this talented Bungalow Crew is Jennifer Leitch, Jamie Welsh, Erin Hephzibah, Katt Kerr, Becca Starr and Scunnurt. Come down, tickets £5 on Eventbrite and the door, and grab a drink and have a listen to the staff you love so much

At The Cave tonight from 9pm is Rheumatoid Rockers, live band tomorrow at 6pm is TBC followed by Blues Mama at 9pm. On Sunday at 6pm it is Midnight Hour followed by Grants After Party from 9pm. 

The Old Swan has the talented Feeva in tonight. Tickets are £10 on the door from 7pm. Saturday Full Hog is in the ‘Shoppers Slot’ from 4pm. Monday is The Casual Swans from 4pm and on Tuesday Mr Smooth himself Lee James will be the entertainment for the Swing and Afternoon Tea which includes homemade banana loaf, scone butter and jam with fresh cream, chocolate mousse with a mint after eight all served with a mixture of fresh sandwiches on tiger bread with tea or coffee. All for £4.50pp. Haud me back big yin.  

The Keg have Fat Lips in tonight from 9.30pm. Zambretto has live acts on at 8.30pm both Friday and Saturday. 

The Paisley Open Mic scene looks like it’s getting back to what it used to be like before all the Covid restrictions crippled what was a very vibrant music scene. On Monday Dunky Hunter will be the host at The Abbey from 8.30pm. On Tuesday it is the first night back for Gantry starting at 9pm, The Anchor Bar is also back on Tuesday kicking off at 8pm and on Wednesday The Patter Bar has its first night back and starts at 8pm. Andy looks like he is having a busy week. He messaged me to tell me that ‘After a regrettably lengthy, yet unavoidable break, the next Columba Club Renfrew Open Mic ‘with Andy Lindsay and Friends’ – is back – this coming Sunday afternoon, 26th September – from 2 pm ’til teatime. All ages are welcome, so it’s great for families. Whether you want to play or just watch and listen – welcome back to live music in a safe, spacious and comfortable environment
