asks
‘D’ye Mind o’ the Mills?’
Sunday 28 October, 2.30-4.30pm
Starlight
16 Wellmeadow Street, Paisley
Entry Free

If you’ve never been to a poetry event in Paisley, now’s your chance! Five female Paisley poets (Oh, who can resist that alluring alliteration?), one Dundee poet, and one Glasgow poet get together to ask, ‘D’ye Mind o’ the Mills?’ In case you didn’t know, Paisley and Dundee are toons that are alive with mill history. Dundee made the jute, and Paisley made the thread. So come and hear the gallus mill girls poets (Tracy Patrick, Mo Blake, Kathryn Daly and Gwen McKerrell) tell you what was great and gory about life in the mills. Mark Thomson gives his unique perspective in Dundonian patter. Mo Blake sheds her mill girl persona and delivers poetry with true wummin’s wit. And Barrheid’s own Jim Ferguson gives his take on… well, wait and see. Come and say your piece at the open mike. With music from Coleslaw and a special guest appearance from John Lennon’s elbow!
Oh yes, and did I mention the FREE WINE!
