Renfrewshire club Thorn Athletic have appointed Charlie Owens as their new community football co-ordinator.
Charlie takes over from Kayden Weir. He'll be running the club's community coaching sessions, building partnerships with local schools and organising holiday camps for young people in the area.
Plenty of local families may have met him already. The club says he's been involved in its October holiday camp, in local schools and at its regular sessions.
A coaching background from academy to university
Charlie has worked in football coaching and player development, including with a pro football academy and OneRen, and he's completed internships at the academies of both St Mirren and Kilmarnock.
He's also head coach of the University of the West of Scotland men's first team, while in his fourth year studying Coaching and Developing Sports at UWS.
Charlie said he was delighted to join the club, and that he's looking forward to helping grow Thorn's community involvement, creating positive experiences for young players and giving more children and young people the chance to enjoy football, develop their skills and build their confidence.
He added that he's excited to get started and to meet the Thorn Athletic community over the coming months.
