Tucked away on Lawn Street in Paisley’s Abbey Quarter, Taste Buds is the kind of homely, friendly café every town needs. It’s a sit-in café, a takeaway and a catering business all rolled into one, and the prices are kept sensible so it suits every budget. Locals clearly love it: their Facebook page shows 100% recommend from more than 240 reviews, and it’s a Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice for 2026.
The menu is proper home cooking. There’s an all-day breakfast (the Big Scottish Breakfast is a favourite), homemade soups, sandwiches or “pieces” as they call them, and daily specials like pie of the day. Vegans and vegetarians are looked after too, with options including macaroni cheese. Save room for cake, because they describe themselves as the home of amazing homemade cakes and afternoon tea.
Look out for the bike with its flower basket parked outside the shopfront, and the chalkboards with the day’s deals. It’s a lovely wee spot for an early breakfast roll on the way to work or a lazy afternoon tea with friends.
Find them at 22 Lawn Street, Paisley PA1 1HF. Call 0141 889 9555 or email tastebudspaisley@gmail.com. Listings give roughly Monday to Saturday 7:30am–3pm, closed Sundays, but it’s worth checking Facebook before you go.
