To mark the great author’s 100th birthday, the leading housebuilder which has local developments including Gryffe Meadows in Houston, Renfrew based Deanpark Gardens and Dargavel Village in Bishopton, is on the hunt to find the most popular bedtime story across its UK developments.

To celebrate the importance of reading and the enjoyment that comes from a good book, Stewart Milne Homes is asking local primary schools to submit their top five stories and six schools from across the UK will be selected to win a share of a £1,500 literacy fund.

Marlyn Boal, sales and marketing director at Stewart Milne Homes, said: “Roald Dahl captured the hearts and imaginations of kids all over Britain and continues to do so today, so what better day to mark his legacy than on the 100th anniversary of his birth.

“Books not only offer an excellent tool for learning and development but are also a great way to unwind after a busy day and can help towards a good night’s sleep, something that we are passionate about at Stewart Milne Homes. Our award winning team works hard to ensure that bedrooms are designed to offer an inviting place to relax, with plenty of natural light and storage space.

“We’re encouraging all young readers near to our developments to help us find the best bedtime story and would love to hear their selection. We’re excited to see what they come up with and imagine there might be a few Roald Dahl classics on peoples’ lists. Our literacy fund is designed to help young readers with the provision of books they can enjoy.”

Stewart Milne Homes will be asking the public to help select the overall favourite bedtime story from the top five most popular books across its UK developments. This will be held on the homebuilder’s Facebook page.

To enter please email your top five bedtime stories to:  SMHfavouritestory@bigpartnership.co.uk.  All entries must be received by 5pm on Friday 30th September and should include the name of the primary school, class (if any in particular) and contact details.
