St Mirren came from behind to take a point off Hibernian on Wednesday night, as a quiet game in Paisley sparked into life in the last quarter of an hour.

It finished 1-1 at the Marbill Coaches Stadium in front of 6,573 fans. All the goals came late on, and both sides had chances to win it in the closing minutes.

Quiet until the final stages

Craig McLeish made one change from the side that beat Dundee on Saturday. Chris Mochrie started in place of the injured Kabia, while Paul Nsio was back on the bench after missing the weekend with a virus.

Mochrie made the first opening with just two minutes gone, crossing for Luke Thomas, who slipped as he went to shoot. Hibs saw more of the ball after that but didn't trouble Saints much. Their best chance came early in the second half, when Joe Newell pounced on a loose pass from Jacob Chapman and tried to catch the keeper off his line from 25 yards, putting it just wide.

The visitors went ahead with 12 minutes left. Defender Marko Ivezic scrambled the ball over the line after a corner wasn't cleared.

Saints hit back

St Mirren responded well. Substitutes Jake Young and Samuel Ramos almost combined for an equaliser on 81 minutes, but Ramos turned Young's low ball just wide. Two minutes later Saints were level. Nsio, on as a sub, got to a Killian Phillips corner and the ball went in off Hibs' Jason Kerr, a scrappy goal much like the one Hibs had scored.

Saints could have won it. Phillips, making his 100th appearance for the club, picked out Calvin Ramsay, who fired over, and Hibs keeper Raphael Sallinger then made a big save to stop Young.

The point took Hibs off the bottom of the Premiership and gave Marink Reedijk his first point as their manager. St Mirren sit seventh on 14 points.

What's next

Saints are away to Motherwell on Saturday 31 October, then home to Rangers on Saturday 7 November. That game kicks off at 8pm and is live on Sky Sports.
