Renfrewshire’s Provost Sets Fun Runners Costume Challenge

Renfrewshire’s Provost will be on the lookout for the weirdest and most wonderful costumes in this year’s Paisley Road Race Fun Run.

The 3K fun run takes place on the same day as Paisley 10K, Sunday 29 August.

Entrants in the past have included pirates, clowns, ballerinas, Spiderman and even Scoobie Doo, so expectations are high for this year’s fun runners.

Provost Celia Lawson will be in County Square judging all the creative costumes and dishing out prizes for the best fancy dressed runners on the day.

Provost Lawson said: “I can’t wait to see the costumes this year. Judging the best fancy dress in the fun run is one of my favourite parts of the day. We all know the people of Renfrewshire have a fantastic sense of humour so I’m challenging them this year to do their very best and go all out for the best costume prizes.

“The Paisley 10K and Fun Run is our biggest event and brings people of all ages into the town for a great day. The Fun Run in particular is great for bringing together families and friends to run together, whether it’s for charity or just for fun. I love seeing all their colourful costumes and smiles lighting up the town centre.”

Paisley 10k Road Race and Fun Run takes place on Sunday 29 August starting in County Square, Paisley.

The 10k begins at 10am and the fun run starts at 12.15pm.

There will also be loads of free activities and entertainment going on on the day.

The Lagoon Leisure centre are offering free activities for all runners including:

•Free family badminton sessions
•Bouncy castle on race day
•Free Prize Draw-win a club membership
•Free swim open to all 10K medal holders as a well done! On the day of the race and Monday/Tuesday-just bring your medal
•Aeroball Court free for children and young people on race day and all the previous week
•Free parking at lagoon on race day- and showers and changing facilities are available for participants and families using the lagoon activities
