Crowds turned out to Robertson Park on Saturday to enjoy the sight and sound of some of Scotland’s best pipe bands at the Renfrew Pipe Band Competition.
The free‑to‑attend event brought a full day of family entertainment to the park, with visitors enjoying inflatables, stalls from local traders and a small funfair.
Throughout the day bands took to the arena to compete in the various grades with the competition judged by officials from the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association (RSPBA).
At 5:30pm, all competing bands assembled to salute event Chieftain Carol MacDonald before the event’s prizegiving.
Local bands Johnstone, Kilbarchan, Paisley and District RBL and Renfrewshire Schools pipe bands represented the area, achieving great success across the different grades.
The day also had some international interest, with the Royal Army of Oman Pipe Band competing in the Grade 3 and Grade 2 competitions.
The event was organised by Renfrewshire Council and the RSPBA.
