Renfrewshire Climate Action Network (RenCAN), the group behind the free RenCAN Learn climate learning platform, is one of the organisations in the Our Advertisers slider on paisley.org.uk. Its next big date in Paisley is a workshop on Friday 27 November where residents can give their views on Renfrewshire Council's draft Climate Adaptation Plan, which sets out how the area should prepare for flooding, extreme weather and other effects of a changing climate.

Hub address: Renfrewshire Climate Hub, 39 High Street, Lochwinnoch, Renfrewshire PA12 4AB
Adaptation Plan Workshop: Friday 27 November, 10am to 12pm
The workshop is hosted by RenCAN in partnership with Renfrewshire Council. The council is consulting on the proposed actions in its Climate Adaptation Plan, and wants to know whether it has picked the right priorities and what else could be done to strengthen resilience across Renfrewshire.
According to the event listing, climate change is already affecting Renfrewshire, with growing risks from flooding, extreme weather and heat stress. Those risks can affect communities, buildings, infrastructure, the local economy, public services and the natural environment. The plan builds on existing strategies and has been informed by evidence, risk assessments and local and national policy, but the organisers say it also needs to reflect the experiences, priorities and concerns of people who live, work and study in Renfrewshire, and to protect those most vulnerable to climate impacts.
The workshop will be in Paisley, but the venue has not yet been confirmed. RenCAN says it will update people once it is. Free tickets are available through the event page, which links to the booking page. Check the event page nearer the time for the confirmed venue.
Also on in Paisley this month: upcycled tote bags, 25 November
On Wednesday 25 November, 11am to 1pm, Sewing2gether All Nations is running a session at Paisley Central Library (PA1 2BS) where you can design your own upcycled tote bag to keep or give as a gift. It is billed as a calm, creative break from the Christmas shopping rush. Book through the ticket page.
Fix & Mend Lochwinnoch: 3 November and 1 December
RenCAN's monthly repair drop-in, with a PAT testing service, runs from 6pm to 9pm at the Men's Shed, Lochhead Gardens, Lochwinnoch. The next sessions are Tuesday 3 November and Tuesday 1 December 2026.
A recent RenCAN event: the People's Emergency Briefing
RenCAN recently reported on free screenings of the People's Emergency Briefing, a film about the climate and nature crisis, which it held with Lochwinnoch Community Development Trust and Lochwinnoch Force for Nature during Climate Week. 78 people came to the McKillop Institute on Wednesday 30 September, with discussions afterwards facilitated by Becky Duncan of Open Aye. RenCAN says anyone interested in hosting their own screening, or in regular local film screenings and meet-ups about the climate and nature crisis, can get in touch at enquiries@renfrewshireclimate.scot.
