Drivers in Paisley are being reminded to watch their speed after police carried out checks on three of the town's roads this week.

Officers from the Renfrewshire Community Policing Team monitored traffic on Whitehaugh Avenue, Greenlaw Avenue and Corsebar Road, the busy route past the Royal Alexandra Hospital.

Police Scotland Renfrewshire said a number of vehicles were stopped and drivers were spoken to.

Part of a wider push

It's the latest in a run of speed enforcement across the area. Earlier this month officers carried out similar checks in Renfrewshire's villages, after concerns about motorists coming into 30mph zones too quickly from roads with the national speed limit.

Speeding has been a recurring worry for residents in parts of Paisley. In early October the council said Hawkhead Road and Seedhill Road are set to be redesigned after a strong public response to speeding concerns, and Greenlaw Avenue itself was in the news this month over a row about its new parking bay layout.

If you have concerns about speeding on your street, you can report them to Police Scotland on 101 or raise them with your local community policing team. Always call 999 in an emergency.
