Police are asking for the public's help after an officer was injured while trying to stop a youth who was riding an electric motorbike illegally in Paisley town centre.
It happened at about 6.35pm on Wednesday 28 October on Wellmeadow Street, close to Lady Lane. Officers spotted the bike being ridden and tried to stop the rider.
A male officer was hurt during the incident. He was taken to hospital and has since been released after treatment.
Can you help?
Officers are now trying to trace the rider. He is described as white and was wearing a black hooded top with a CK logo on the front, a black beanie hat and a black mask over his mouth.
The bike itself was an off-road style electric motorbike, dark in colour and with no lights.
Anyone who saw what happened, or who has CCTV or dashcam footage from the area around that time, is asked to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 3279 of Wednesday 28 October 2026. Information can also be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
Ongoing crackdown
Police in Renfrewshire have been cracking down on the illegal use of e-bikes and e-scooters, with e-scooters and e-bikes seized in Paisley and Linwood earlier this month. Electric motorbikes and other powered bikes that aren't road legal can't be ridden on public roads, pavements or in parks.
