Police are appealing for information after a car was deliberately set on fire outside a house in Johnstone in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Emergency services were alerted at around 2.30am on Thursday 10 September 2026 to a Ford Focus on fire outside a property on John Lang Street.

No Injuries Reported

Crews from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service put out the blaze, and no one was reported to have been hurt. Detectives are treating the fire as deliberate.

Call for Witnesses and Footage

Detective Constable Naomi Irving said that, fortunately, nobody had been injured, but warned that "it could’ve been much worse and spread to other vehicles nearby".

She said enquiries were continuing and urged anyone in the area who has information to come forward. She also asked people with private CCTV, doorbell or dash-cam footage to check their recordings in case they had captured anything that could help the investigation.
