Nine play parks across Renfrewshire are lined up for renewal, with the first diggers expected on site early in 2027.

A report going to Renfrewshire Council's Infrastructure, Land and Environment Policy Board on Wednesday 4 November sets out the next stage of the council's 2026/27 play park programme, split into two phases.

First phase: six sites

The first phase covers three Paisley play areas: Fountain Gardens, Darkwood Crescent and the top play area at Ferguslie Gardens. It also includes Elderslie West at Old Road, Lyle Crescent in Bishopton and Millfield Meadows in Erskine.

Bids for this work are being assessed now. Contracts are expected to be awarded at the end of November, with work getting under way early in 2027.

Second phase: three more in spring

The second phase takes in Thomas Shanks Park in Johnstone, Green Road at Morar Drive in Paisley and the Robinia play area at Robertson Park in Renfrew.

Tenders for those sites are due to go out at the start of November and come back in early January 2027. If suitable bids come in, work should start in the spring.

Last year's programme finished

The report also confirms that the 2025/26 play park improvement programme is now complete. That round brought upgrades to sites in Johnstone, Bishopton, Renfrew, Paisley, Linwood and Erskine, along with new outdoor gyms in Johnstone and Lochwinnoch.

It follows the council's pledge in February's budget that every play park in Renfrewshire will benefit from investment. Councillors will be asked to note the progress when the board meets next week.
