Myth busters: The most common misconceptions surrounding online gaming

Games of chance have been around for centuries. But, with the introduction of the internet in 1983, and online casino gaming in the mid-90s, it’s no wonder many myths and misconceptions have developed surrounding how we play in the digital age.

Plus, with the expansion of live casino gaming, it’s understandable there are lots of questions surrounding the games.

Join us as we explore some of the most common misconceptions and bust some of the myths surrounding online gaming – from Slots and table games to the live casino!

Online casinos are a fix

Arguably, one of the most common myths surrounding online casinos is that they are fixed. This is incorrect. All reputable casinos, are regulated by the responsible gambling body. In Europe, the United Kingdom and Malta are the major jurisdictions that govern online gaming.

This ensures games remain fair and all players are protected, with helplines and customer support available if needed.

Slot machines have memory

Another misconception surrounding games online is that Slots, in particular, have memory, and a matching combination must appear if one hasn’t in a while. This is also a myth, as all games are kept fair and unpredictable by computer software known as a Random Number Generator (RNG).

An RNG creates combinations of numbers and symbols every single second, keeping the games as close to randomness as possible. RNGs have no memory, so it doesn’t matter what outcomes have already landed – there’s no way to predict or influence what might come next.

Live dealers can influence online games

This is a myth, as live dealers are professionally trained and will in no way tamper with the live casino games. Much like if you were playing in a land-based venue, the croupier does not mind what the outcome of the game is, their job is to simply aid you in having fun and staying safe.

In addition, these games happen in real-time, with HD cameras surrounding the dealer, providing detail from all angles. All equipment is checked regularly to ensure it is up to standard, and you’ll have access to a chatroom, with which the dealer can interact in real-time, ensuring transparency.

Rituals and charms can influence the outcome of games

Another common myth is that certain colours, rituals or items can affect the outcome of a game. This is also incorrect, as all games are kept unpredictable and fair by a RNG or professional dealer, ensuring nothing can influence the fair outcomes, and the games remain chance-based.

As luck is just a concept, any superstitions or charms remain personal to each player, but do not influence gameplay.

With these common myths busted and misconceptions ironed out, it’s fair to say that all online casino games are fair and regulated, ensuring the safety of all those who wish to participate.

Remember never to bet more than you can afford and set your limits before playing any live, online or land-based casino games.
