MJC LAW is thrilled to announce that we have been shortlisted as a finalist for Small Firm of the Year at the prestigious Scottish Legal Awards 2025. The Scottish Legal Awards are the largest independent awards programme for the legal sector in Scotland, showcasing innovation, dedication, and excellence in the industry. To be shortlisted alongside some of Scotland’s most respected legal firms is both a privilege and a meaningful acknowledgment of the work we do every day.

This recognition marks a proud milestone for our firm, which has evolved from a small local firm in Paisley into a trusted part of the local support network, delivering outreach that connects legal support with those who need it most, known for protecting what matters most – our clients’ homes, families, and futures.

Founded in 2016 by Matthew James Coffield, MJC LAW began with a clear purpose: protecting people in debt from homelessness. In 2024, this mission evolved into a broader vision – a strong community starts with a secure home – reaffirming our belief that legal support should strengthen not just individuals, but the communities they live in. That belief continues to guide everything we do – from preventing evictions to supporting first-time buyers, writing wills, and offering tailored legal solutions. Our solicitors bring over 38 years of combined expertise and are committed to delivering personalised solutions. This wealth of knowledge strengthens our ability to deliver meaningful outcomes for individuals and families when it matters most.

Over the past year, our team has launched monthly pro bono legal clinics in partnership with East Renfrewshire Citizens Advice Bureau and continues to deliver free weekly legal advice on paisleyradio.com, expanding access to legal advice and education across Renfrewshire. We also partnered with Chest, Heart & Stroke Scotland as part of our ongoing commitment to community engagement, supporting their cause through joint fundraising efforts and raising public awareness.

Matthew Coffield, Founder of MJC LAW, commented:

“I am delighted MJC LAW has been shortlisted as a finalist for this award. It means the world to know that our good work is being seen and appreciated.”

Being shortlisted is a testament to the dedication of our staff, our clients’ trust, and our commitment to combining legal expertise with social impact. We are proud that our work – whether it is in courtrooms, legal clinics, or on the airwaves – is making a difference.

We look forward to celebrating with our peers at the awards and continuing to serve Paisley and beyond with integrity, compassion, and purpose.
