Police made enquiries after a man dressed as a clown was spotted walking near a primary school in Linwood at the start of the week.
Renfrewshire Council has confirmed the man was seen near the school on Monday 26 October. He stayed outside the school grounds, but some pupils could see him from their classroom.
Word of the sightings spread quickly on social media, along with a picture that appeared to show someone in a clown costume in the area.
Police Scotland says officers looked into the reports after receiving information about the man, and that no crime has been established. The council says the police are aware of what happened.
With Halloween this weekend there will be plenty of costumes around Linwood and the rest of Renfrewshire. If anything ever worries you near a school, you can contact Police Scotland on 101, or 999 in an emergency.
