Linstone Housing's office on Bridge Street in Linwood has been renamed Nanette Reid House, in memory of one of the people who helped bring the housing association into being.
Nanette Reid was part of the steering group that set up Linstone in the late 1990s and went on to give more than 20 years of service, including spells as both chair and vice chair. She died in August 2025, shortly before her 92nd birthday.
A lasting legacy
The association described Nanette as a "beacon of service, duty and responsibility" and a tireless advocate for community-led housing. She was well known across Scotland's housing sector and was awarded the British Empire Medal in 2014 for her voluntary work and her campaigning for social housing.
Chief executive Angela Taylor said: "We honour Nanette and her outstanding service to this housing association and the wider community over many years. It is fitting that we name our office after Nanette as a lasting legacy of her invaluable contribution to our work."
She added that without Nanette and the others who had the vision for a local housing association, "there would be no Linstone".
Plaque unveiled with family
A commemorative plaque was unveiled at the office in front of members of Nanette's family, including her son Derek, daughter-in-law Karen, granddaughter Heather and Heather's partner Liam. Former chair and current board member Jamie Irvine led the unveiling.
Current chair Amanda Kyle said: "In naming our office Nanette Reid House we not only remember Nanette with deep affection but commemorate her lasting contribution. She was a true neighbourhood champion whose commitment to community-based housing lives on in the important work we do."
Linstone manages almost 1,600 homes across Renfrewshire, mainly in Johnstone and Linwood.
