Santa Claus, an elderly woman, and a young girl in a white coat stand together, smiling beside a decorated Christmas tree with golden lights and ornaments against a dark background.

Crowds turned out in Linwood to see the town’s Christmas lights switched on for 2025.

The lights were switched on during a special carol concert held inside the town’s Tweedie Hall, with performances from Johnstone Burgh Band, Our Lady of Peace and Wallace Primary school choirs.

The fun didn’t stop there with a selection of free family activities on offer, including festive arts and crafts, storytelling sessions, kids Christmas discos, street entertainers and a giant snow globe.

It wouldn’t be Christmas without an appearance from Santa, who joined Renfrewshire’s Depute Provost Cathy McEwan and competition winner Arya from East Fulton Primary School to push the button and light up Linwood for the festive season.

The extended festive events programme was made possible by extra investment from the council to work with local communities to deliver a calendar of cultural events for the area’s five main town centres.
