Prices published up front


The firm's standardised price list (dated June 2026) notes that all funeral directors are legally required to publish this list, so families can think through their options and compare prices between firms. The headline figures it gives for funeral director's charges are:


  • Attended funeral: £2,315, covering legal and administrative arrangements, collection of the deceased (normally within 15 miles), care before the funeral, a cherry wood veneer coffin, viewing by appointment, and the hearse to the cemetery or crematorium
  • Unattended burial: £1,350
  • Unattended cremation: £1,360, including the cremation fee


The list also sets out third-party fees that families pay on top. It gives the typical local burial fee for residents as £1,157.10 and the typical local cremation fee as £1,029. Optional extras listed include embalming at £160, additional transfers at £250 each, extra mileage at £2 a mile and collection and delivery of ashes at £10. Officiant fees and out-of-hours services are priced on request.

Direct cremation online


For families who want a simple cremation without a service, the firm's direct cremation page lists an unattended direct cremation at £1,350, including a £500 direct cremation fee at Woodside Crematorium. No one attends the cremation. The price covers the funeral director's services, bringing the deceased into care from a local address or hospital within 15 miles, dressing according to the family's wishes, a non-ceremonial vehicle and staff, and a cardboard coffin. Collection from further than 15 miles costs extra.


It can be arranged online or by phone. The page says the team will be in touch within 24 hours, Monday to Friday between 8.30am and 4.30pm, and that payment is due within 72 hours of the funeral date being arranged. The figure on this page differs slightly from the standardised list, so check the current price with the firm when you call.


Planning ahead with a pre-paid plan


Kenneth Keegan works in partnership with Golden Charter to offer pre-paid funeral plans. According to the firm's website, the funeral director's services included in a plan are fixed at today's prices, and a Golden Charter plan also includes an allowance towards third-party costs such as cremation or burial fees and the minister's or officiant's fee.


Plans can be discussed at the George Street premises, at home, by phone or by email, and the firm says it will take wishes such as the type of funeral, hymns and music into account. You can pay in one go or spread the cost. The website states that the retail price includes a £350 arrangement fee kept by Golden Charter, and that payments are held in the Golden Charter Trust, which is independent of Golden Charter.


The firm is an appointed representative of Golden Charter Limited, which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FRN 965279). Plans are available to all UK residents regardless of age or health, the website says.
