Free counselling through SAIF Care

Kenneth Keegan is a member of the National Society of Allied and Independent Funeral Directors (SAIF), and its Bereavement Support page explains that families can use SAIF Care. The firm says it offers the service because “it’s sometimes easier to talk to someone outside of your friends and family about grief”.

According to SAIF Care, the service is available to bereaved people under the care of SAIF funeral directors. Its helpline, email and webchat are free and confidential and are staffed by professional bereavement counsellors. Kenneth Keegan’s page says the service is for people aged 18 and over.

Renfrewshire Bereavement Network

The same page lists the Renfrewshire Bereavement Network for adults living in Renfrewshire who are coping with grief after a death, or with the loss of something important to them. The network says it will listen and help people find the most appropriate advice, guidance and counselling for their situation.

The team on George Street

Kenneth Keegan opened the business in August 2014 after ten years with large national funeral directors, having started as a trainee in 2005. The firm’s Meet the Team page says its funeral directors are qualified to diploma level. As well as Kenneth, the page lists Graeme Bassy (principal funeral director), Gordon Powrie, Mark Sutherland, Stephen McShane and Stefanie Dick as funeral directors, along with a funeral service operative, a care facility supervisor and two funeral administrators.

Several of the team describe long local roots. Gordon Powrie mentions his membership of the British Legion branch on Renfrew Road and volunteering with the charity Erskine, and Janice Keenan, one of the administrators, says she was born in Paisley’s north end.
