Local businesses that have ever wondered how to win work from the council or the NHS can get some answers next month.
Renfrewshire Council is running a free networking event at the Tweedie Hall in Linwood on Tuesday 17 November, from 9am to 1pm.
Who'll be there
Buyers from Renfrewshire Council, the University of the West of Scotland, City Building and NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde will explain the contracts they have coming up and how to do business with them.
Free business support and tendering advice will also be on offer from:
- Business Gateway
- the Supplier Development Programme
- Renfrewshire Chamber of Commerce
- the Federation of Small Businesses
Hundreds of millions up for grabs
Councillor John Shaw, who convenes the council's Finance, Customer Services and Resources Policy Board, said: "This event is about helping Renfrewshire businesses connect with real opportunities in the public sector and giving them the confidence to bid for contracts that could support future growth."
He said the council awards around 200 contracts a year and spends £344 million on goods and services. Across Scotland, the public sector spends around £17 billion a year.
"We want more of that investment to benefit local companies, helping to create jobs, strengthen our economy and support sustainable growth across Renfrewshire," he added. "Businesses attending the event will gain practical advice on the procurement process, meet buyers and partners, and learn how to identify and secure opportunities that could help them grow and thrive."
Who can go
The event is open to Renfrewshire-based sole traders, limited companies, partnerships, supported businesses, third sector organisations and suppliers.
