Exciting Music and Entertainment Line-Up at The Bungalow and The Old Swan This Week

Tonight, The Bungalow are having a Soul Night and on the decks is local DJ Brian Leslie. The last one was a tremendous success. It is a great vibe with all the screens showing videos of the Wigan Casino dancers. It really adds to the night. Doors at 7pm and it is Free Entry again.

Tomorrow is Sma’ Shot Day and The Bungalow have a full day of entertainment lined up. Tom Urie The Piano Jukebox is playing anything you throw at him in the afternoon. Tom’s storytelling and comedy is as quickfire as it gets. In other words, do not heckle him. Doors are 1pm. Straight after Tom it is The Sma’ Shot Poetry Slam with host Shaun Moore from 5pm. Both events are free entry. In the evening it is Shout! Supported by DJ Gerry McGuire. Tickets on the door after The Poetry Slam.

On Tuesday it is the legendary Bungalow Jam Open Stage. The Jam House Band will be on hand to entertain and help any performers. All backline and drumkit provided just bring your instruments. It is free entry and doors are 7pm.

The brilliant and funny PAI-SLAY drag night is back on Wednesday. Showing the best of Paisley’s drag performers, this is a monthly drag show with new guests each month and is organised by Moth To Flame Events. The last time it was a busy one so get in early if you want a seat. Tickets on the door from 7pm.

The Old Swan have Target Street in tonight at 8pm and tomorrow in ‘The Shopper’s Slot’ at 4pm it is Aimless Nomads. The Sunday Soul Club start at 4pm and John and Maria will be spinning all the best Northern Soul tunes for you to dance to. Or if you are like me, just sit and enjoy the music.

I caught up with John and Maria and asked how the Sunday Soul Club has been such a success. “It has been a success because our regulars asked for it. We were both DJing a lot at The Old Swan and began getting a lot of requests for Northern Soul. It felt like there was room for a special session out with what we had on already. Our customers wanted to dance to music to which they could relate. So Jac the manger approached us to put on a Sunday afternoon, we tried it, and it has been popular every week “Monday and Wednesday from 4pm is acoustic solo time and on Tuesday and Thursday at 3pm it is the incredibly talented Lee James.

Andrew O’Donnell will be at The Keg tonight and he starts at 9pm. Tomorrow night Peely Wally are back, and they kick off at 9pm. On Thursday it is The Keg Sessions for new emerging talent. Why not pop in and get some great American style food while watching the latest young talent playing their original work. The Music starts at 9pm.

If you are out and about on Sunday afternoon and you ate looking for a bit of live action, why don’t you take a wee walk into The Inn on the Corner and catch Jenni and the Blockheads from 4.30pm.

Open Mic/Stage sessions next week are: The Abbey at 9pm on Monday, Ugly Duck Monday at 7pm, The Gantry at 9pm on Tuesday, The Bungalow on Tuesday 7pm, The Keg on Wednesday at 8.30pm and The Cave from 9pm on Thursday.
