Dobbies at Braehead is inviting shoppers to make an early start on Christmas next month, with a late-night charity shopping event in aid of Alzheimer’s Research UK.
The garden centre’s Christmas Charity Shopping Night takes place on Thursday 26 November from 5pm to 8pm, and also marks the start of Dobbies’ Black Friday offers.
What’s on the night
Visitors can browse the store’s full Christmas range, from Christmas trees, decorations and lights to houseplants, festive food and gifts. There will be live demonstrations, including wreath-making, food tastings, demo stations and entertainment from local community groups.
Black Friday deals can be shopped during the event, and everyone who goes along gets money-off vouchers to use on the night: £5 off a £25 spend or £10 off a £50 spend. Participating Dobbies restaurants will also serve a light bite menu until 7.15pm.
Tickets
Tickets are pay-what-you-can at £1, £2.50 or £5, and every penny from ticket sales goes to Alzheimer’s Research UK. Each ticket includes a welcome drink of prosecco or a soft drink, food sampling and access to the evening’s entertainment. Tickets can be bought in advance on the Dobbies website or in store on the night.
Why it matters
This is Dobbies’ second festive season working with Alzheimer’s Research UK. Paul Glazier, the charity’s head of corporate partnerships, said almost one million people in the UK are currently living with dementia, and that events like this help raise much-needed funds for research into finding a cure.
Hannah Stephen, event programme manager at Dobbies, described the night as a highlight in the garden centre’s calendar, bringing customers and local communities together to start the festive season while raising money for a good cause.
