Building work has begun on 23 new affordable homes at Dargavel Village in Bishopton, delivered through a partnership between Sanctuary Scotland and Persimmon Homes.
To mark the start on site, Sanctuary Scotland's head of development, Gordon Lee, was joined by Councillor Marie McGurk, convener of Renfrewshire Council's Communities and Housing Policy Board, and Chris Logan, managing director of Persimmon Homes West Scotland.

What Is Being Built
The homes are part of the wider masterplan for Dargavel Village, which is being developed on the former BAE site. They are located at the centre of the growing community, alongside the existing Persimmon Homes and Charles Church development.
The 23 energy-efficient homes will be made up of:
eight two-bedroom cottage flats
seven two-bedroom mid-terrace homes
eight three-bedroom end-terrace homes
The mix is designed to suit a range of housing needs. Every property will be fitted with solar PV panels to improve energy efficiency and help cut household energy costs.
The project has been backed by £2.7 million in grant funding from the Scottish Government.
What They Said
Gordon Lee said it was "fantastic to see construction start" at Dargavel Village, which he described as a thriving new community with excellent local amenities and facilities. He said Sanctuary was delighted to be working with Persimmon Homes to provide much-needed affordable homes, particularly homes for larger families, which he said are in high demand locally.
Councillor McGurk said the new homes would help meet the need for affordable housing in the area, and that the development fitted with the council's commitment to creating "warm, welcoming and comfortable places for people to live".
Chris Logan said Dargavel Village was already home to a growing community and that the new homes would help meet local demand for quality, energy-efficient housing. "We're looking forward to seeing the homes take shape and welcoming more families to Dargavel Village," he said.
Both Sanctuary Scotland and the council said they look forward to seeing the development progress over the coming months.
