Residents looking to access council services over their festive period are being urged to check in advance for opening hours and emergency contacts.

Many council services will close or operate on an emergency basis from 2.30pm on Friday 24 December, although all lifeline services will continue to operate.

A handy guide has been prepared for residents on the council website outlining opening hours and contact numbers for any services they may need, such as care at home, homeless support, community meals and emergency repairs.

Local people can access this information on the Council’s website at www.renfrewshire.gov.uk/festivehours2021.

Council services will resume normal operating hours again from Thursday 6 January 2022.

Councillor Marie McGurk, Convener of Renfrewshire Council’s Communities, Housing and Planning Policy Board, said: “It’s important that residents know that our lifeline services are still available throughout the Christmas and New Year period and don’t hesitate to get in touch should they need us.

“Our website has all our emergency contacts and opening hours and all our services will return to normal operating hours from Thursday 6 January 2022.

“Thank you to all our staff who provide these services, at Christmas and throughout the year, please know how much you are appreciated.”

The festive closure booklet forms part of Renfrewshire’s #RenReady campaign which aims to prepare residents and business for the winter period.

It asks people to think whether they are prepared for a loss of utilities, heavy flooding or snow and to put the measures in place to ensure they are ready in advance.
