Right on Paisley High Street, a few minutes’ walk from Gilmour Street station and the Town Hall, Café Fairfull has been feeding and watering Buddies for around 15 years now. It’s a proper all-rounder: somewhere for a lazy breakfast, a catch-up over coffee and cake, or a glass of something in the afternoon, since it’s a fully licensed café with beers, wines and Prosecco alongside the coffee.

The baking is the star. Everything is handmade in Paisley under the Fairfull Bakes name, from brownies and traybakes to cupcakes and full-size sponges, and you’ll also find their bakes at shopping-centre kiosks and farmers’ markets around Greater Glasgow. On the food side, meals are made fresh to order (think 8oz burgers, salads, classic sandwiches and a rich macaroni cheese), with gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options. They do afternoon tea too, with fresh sandwiches, scones and plenty of those bakes.

When we looked, they were also running a Sunday special: a full Scottish breakfast for £7 between 9am and noon. That’s well worth knowing about if you’re in town at the weekend. Why not pull up a seat outside on a dry day and watch the High Street go by?

Find them at 12 High Street, Paisley PA1 2BS. Call 0141 387 3621 or email cafefairfull@gmail.com. Their website lists Monday to Saturday 9am–6pm and Sunday 9am–5pm, though their latest Facebook graphic says 8am–6pm every day, so it’s worth checking before an early visit.
