If you’ve ever cut through the Piazza Shopping Centre on a cold Paisley morning, the Boathouse Café is the wee spot worth slowing down for. It’s a small, friendly café right in the middle of town, run by Karen and her team, and it has the easy, chatty feel of a place that’s built up plenty of regulars.

The menu keeps things simple and does them well: proper coffees and teas, fresh homemade food, and cakes from what the café calls their “brilliant local baker”. Their own Facebook page sums up the attitude nicely with a post that just says “We love cake here”, and they like to have a bit of fun with it too. When Scotland were playing this summer, they were serving saltire-iced bakes from behind the counter, face paint and all.

It’s a handy stop when you’re out doing the shopping, meeting a pal, or just need a sit-down and a warm-up between errands. There’s a real community feel about the place, from birthday shout-outs for regulars to festive entries in the Piazza’s snow globe competition.

Find them inside the Piazza Shopping Centre, Central Road, Paisley PA1 1EL, or call 0141 237 8120. The café generally opens from 8am Monday to Saturday, but listings give different closing times, so it’s worth checking their Facebook page before you go.
