The competition is hotting up as the Beat the Street Paisley game enters its final week.

More than 9,300 people are taking part and have so far walked, ran, cycled, wheeled and scooted an incredible 68,000 miles so far in the competition.

The last week of the walking, cycling and wheeling game is the time to make every step count; every Beat Box in the game will be giving out double points for the last seven days of the game, so everything could change at the top of the leaderboards.

Currently, Todholm Primary School tops the total points leaderboard and community group A&R top the average points leaderboard.

The game comes to an end at 7pm on 12 October and the winners will be announced shortly afterwards. The winning teams will win prizes such as vouchers for books and sports equipment.

Councillor Michelle Campbell, Convener of Renfrewshire Council’s Infrastructure, Land and Environment Policy Board, said: “It’s hard to believe that we’re nearing the end of the game as Beat the Street has really been the talk of the town for the past few weeks, and it has been fantastic to see everyone getting active as a community.

“Once the points have been tallied and the prizes awarded, we’ll work with the local community to ensure that these healthy lifestyle habits are continued and players are signposted to activities and community groups that they might not have known about before.

“It’s great to see so many people, of all ages, involved in the game and we want to support them to keep active and leaving the car at home.”

Beat the Street Paisley has been commissioned by Renfrewshire Council with support from Paths for All’s Smarter Choices, Smarter Places programme. It is being delivered by Intelligent Health.

The winners will be announced on www.beatthestreet.me/paisley or search for @BTSPaisley on social media.
