NNE are bringing the hugely popular band STIPE back to The Bungalow tonight. They are the definitive tribute to one of the biggest bands in rock music – R.E.M. STIPE have performed the songs of R.E.M. to thousands of people worldwide. R.E.M. built a towering back catalogue that reached from the addictive highs of Shiny Happy People down to the reflective darkness of Everybody Hurts, covering all else in between. Platinum Al had this high praise for the band in January 2015:
“Where this band succeeds is in the accuracy of the sound, the lead singer looks the part, his voice is a fairly uncanny likeness of Michael Stipe’s, other musicians also create a brilliant rendition of the songs, fully convincing and delivered with confidence.”
STIPE’s band rehearse hard to recreate the R.E.M. sound that music fans deserve. They visit the hits and the gems taking every opportunity to perfect the songs. In performance STIPE make R.E.M.’s charismatic music their own. R.E.M. was one of the first alternative rock bands. Their signature was a changing and reactive sound, from a guitar driven, unforced and intuitive beginning, through the game changing Losing My Religion and then onwards. They called it a day after some 15 albums but not before Michael Stipe, on hearing Stipe perform live, declared, ‘These guys are awesome.’
To hear STIPE’s sets live is to fall in love with this music, for the first time or all over again.

Tomorrow afternoon you get two for the price of one. A bit of the Beatles mixed in with some Eagles means only one thing and that is The Beagles. Doors are 1pm and it is free entry. ‘Dougie Robertson’s Springsteen Sessions are playing tomorrow night, support starts 8pm. Tickets on the door from 7pm.
Smokin at Tiffany’s are playing on Sunday. Don’t miss them, the last time they played The Bungalow everyone was talking about them for weeks. Pop in to see what all the fuss was about, you won’t be disapointed. Doors are 3pm and it is free entry.
Bungalow Open Stage is on Tuesday from 7pm and The Bungalow New Live Wednesdays start with a Punktastic line up with, EX, The Apparents and The Deploied. Tickets on the door from 7pm.
The Bungalow are excited to welcome Endov, Foreign 2 and Fionn Lyons to the stage for their Thursday Introducing Night. Doors are 7pm, tickets £5/3 students.
The Cave have Filthy White Suits on tonight from 8pm. The Festivals will be playing tomorrow from 5pm and after them at 8pm it is Sacred Villains. Emergency Exit finishes off bumper weekend on Sunday from 6pm. Black Dog Forge play The Keg on Saturday and The Keg Sessions are on Thursday from 9pm with more original bands.
Gordon’s Alive are playing at 7pm tonight in The Old Swan while The Fogarty’s are performing in The garden Stage. Dead Flowers are on tomorrow from 4pm. Lee James performs on Tuesday and Thursday at 3pm, Duncan McLellan is on Wednesday at 4pm.
Rumours will be at Kennedy’s on Sunday from 3pm.
A last word. The Anchor has been part of Paisley’s successful music scene for years. I am sad so say that last week was the end of live music for them. Nicky and Jo who ran the pub have been great to work with over the years being part of Spree for All, Paisley Music Week and organising gigs to raise funds for charities. The owners of The Anchor, Punch Taverns are wanting to take the pub in a new direction with no live music or karaoke so it’s ‘All going quiet over there’. ‘Nicky and Jo are looking to relocate to new premises somewhere in Paisley. ‘Thank you for the music’ and watch this space.
