Deke McGee started playing Saxophone at the age of thirteen, after hearing Bill Doggetts 'Honky Tonk' played by the legendary Clifford Scott. He began studying the sound and the stylings of all the great Swing and Rhythm n’ Blues horn men of that era; such as Arnett Cobb, Illinois Jacquet, Herschel Evans, Lee Allen, Sil Austin, Red Prysock, Big Al Sears, Plas Johnson, Sam 'the man' Taylor and the great Texas Tenor King Curtis. Tomorrow afternoon The Bobby Deans Big Band will be playing some ‘Big Music’. This is a free gig and doors at 1pm.
Ultimate Madnezz are at The Bungalow tomorrow night. They are probably one of the best and authentic Madness tribute bands in the UK. They perform all the top hits including One Step Beyond, Baggy Trousers, It Must Be Love, House of Fun and more. Ultimate Madnezz are a 7-piece band and give you full on sound that is Madness. The Backtrack Beatles make a welcome return to The Bungalow for a matinee show on Sunday and their show is packed with Beatles classics. A must for all Fab Four Fans. This is a free gig and Doors 1pm.
Bungalaff is on Sunday and this week’s headliner is Craig Speirs. Craig has support from Aimee Hinds, Ewan Mckay, Jonathan Soutar Findlay, Sharon Howard, Rio McWilliams and your host as usual is Richie McMahon. Tickets on the door from 7pm.
The Bungalow Jam kicks off at 7pm on Tuesday. This week’s entertainment includes Music, Games, a Quiz and the usual Open Mic. This is free entry. The Bungalow Wednesday Club starts at 2pm with an afternoon of fun from singer John Griffith of The Bobby Deans Big Band the weekly quiz.
StoryTree Poetry Slam is back for another round. Signups are officially open for the next poetry slam, taking place on Wednesday 6:30pm doors. If you want to compete, make sure to sign up by 31 May on The Bungalow StoryTree event page. The winner will receive the night’s ENTIRE donation pot, one of their slam poems featured in the next issue of StoryTree Quarterly, and a framed artwork by Issue 1 cover artist, Elaine O’Neill. It’s going to be an incredible night—make sure you’re there!
Ronnie T kicks off at The Old Swan from 4pm tonight and following him is Three Card Trick at 8pm. Tomorrow Epic are back and they have a great set list of fantastic tunes for you from 4pm. The Sunday Soul Club kicks off at 4pm. You can hear the incredible voice of Crawford Carlyle at 5pm on Monday, Lee James on Tuesday at 3pm and every second Thursday at 5.00pm and alternatively sometimes it is Cammy Miller. Duncan McLellan will be onstage on Wednesday 5pm.
Citadels with frontman Mark McMillan are at The Keg tonight at 9pm and tomorrow night from 9pm it is Fire In. On Thursday you can discover a full line up of new or up and coming talent kicking off at 9pm.
Graeme J Kerr returns to the stage in Sportsters from 8pm tonight. Graeme’s repertoire is vast and his skill with a loop pedal gives you a full band experience. Kennedys this week is The Suspect on Sunday from 3pm it is Headhunters and later over at The Inn on the Corner Drty Luv starts at 6pm.
The Open Mic/Stage sessions next week are: The Abbey at 9pm on Monday, Ugly Duck Monday at 7pm, The Gantry at 9pm on Tuesday, The Bungalow on Tuesday 7pm, The Keg on Wednesday at 8.30pm and an Open Mic on the last Tuesday of the month.
