Music fans across Renfrewshire are being invited to celebrate 35 years of one of cinema's most loved music stories as The McCommitments – The Scottish Saviours of Soul return to The Bungalow, Paisley, on Saturday 29 August.

35 Years of The Commitments Celebrated as Scottish Soul Band Returns to Paisley

The 11-piece Scottish soul band will mark the anniversary of the iconic 1991 film The Commitments with a night celebrating the songs that introduced generations of fans to the passion, spirit and timeless appeal of soul music.

Returning to a venue where they previously enjoyed a sell-out performance, The McCommitments will bring their acclaimed live show back to Paisley, performing much-loved classics including Mustang Sally, Try a Little Tenderness, Take Me to the River, In the Midnight Hour, Chain of Fools and Land of 1000 Dances.

The band has built a reputation for recreating the atmosphere and musicianship of a classic soul band, featuring powerful vocals, a full horn section and the chemistry of an 11-piece live performance.

Having performed to audiences across Scotland, The McCommitments have become recognised for bringing generations of music fans together through timeless songs and memorable live shows.

Their journey has included successful performances at venues across Scotland, including Airdrie Town Hall, as well as nominations at the Scottish Live Music Awards in both 2024 and 2025.

Lead singer Big Stevie said:

"Paisley has always had a fantastic live music scene. The audiences here know how to enjoy themselves, and The Bungalow is one of those venues where the atmosphere is always electric. The last time we played there, it sold out in no time at all, and the crowd was incredible from the first song to the last.

"The music from The Commitments has brought people together for 35 years, and that's what we love about it. These songs still have the power to get people singing, dancing and sharing the moment together. We can't wait to bring that feeling back to Paisley."

Unlike many live acts, The McCommitments bring the full sound of a classic soul band to the stage, with multiple vocalists, a full horn section and the musicianship needed to celebrate these timeless songs.

Their performances are built around audience connection, with packed dance floors, singalongs and memorable moments that keep people talking long after the final encore.

The Paisley performance forms part of an expanding run of Scottish dates as The McCommitments continue to establish themselves as one of Scotland's leading live soul bands.
