Renfrew Community Council is inviting residents across the town to take part in a brand-new Christmas Display Competition – a simple, fun way to celebrate the creativity and community spirit that makes Renfrew special.

From gardens and balconies to tenement windows and front doors, if your festive display can be seen from the street, you can enter. The Community Council is keen to make sure the competition is as inclusive as possible, and that every part of the town gets the chance to shine.

A £100 prize will go to the winning display, but the real aim is to bring neighbours together and brighten up the winter nights.

Residents can take part in three quick steps:

  • Upload a photo of your display using this link: https://forms.gle/2LiGXG4JRguEkCL57
  • A small judging group from the Community Council will shortlist four finalists.
  • If needed, the group may do a short no-contact evening drive-by to double-check displays that are hard to judge from photos alone.
  • The full Community Council will then take part in an online vote to choose the winner.

Entries close on 11th December 2025.

Jan Bunch of Renfrew Community Council said:

“Renfrew has a real tradition of people going the extra mile at Christmas – you see it every year walking around the town. This competition is just a way of celebrating that creativity and giving the whole town a lift. Some of the houses and flats are already looking brilliant, and we can’t wait to see even more.”

“It doesn’t need to be huge or expensive – it just needs to bring a smile. This is about community, not competition.”

The Community Council hopes the competition will encourage people to explore their own neighbourhoods, share photos, and get to know each other a little better — especially during a time of year when connection matters most.

Residents don’t need to be social-media users to take part. Anyone without internet access can ask a friend, neighbour, or family member to upload a photo on their behalf.

Renfrew Community Council is encouraging as many people as possible to join in – whether by entering, cheering on neighbours, or simply taking a walk around the town once the displays are up. For further information, or to get involved with future community activities, residents can contact Renfrew Community Council through our inbox renfrewcommunitycouncil@gmail.com
