Wrest are a hotly-tipped Scottish indie rock band, making music from Edinburgh’s Old Town and now taking it to The Bungalow. Their sound combines soaring guitars with layered lyrics and heartfelt melodies, reminiscent of bands like Frightened Rabbit, The National, Idlewild, Snow Patrol and We Were Promised Jetpacks. The debut album Coward of Us All “Best Scottish Album 2019″saw Wrest reach an international audience, with sold out shows across the UK and Germany. This is a must-go gig from one of Scotland’s most exciting emerging live acts. In support is The Banter Thief’s Doors are at 7pm and you can get tickets on entry for £10.  

The Bobby Deans Big Band are back again tomorrow afternoon and they kick off at 2pm. It is Free Entry and doors are 1pm, so get in early if you want a seat. 

Black Celebration the Depeche Mode tribute band are playing tomorrow night. Doors are at 7pm. Whether it’s the perfect pop of Just Can’t Get Enough or the pop perversion of Master and Servant, the shear brilliance of Stripped and Walking In My Shoes, or the guitar heavy I Feel You, each track is finely honed to recreate that Depeche Mode experience. Expect all the greats including songs you have never heard Depeche play themselves or never will again. Doors 7pm and tickets can be bought on entry.

Sunday sees and evening of music curated by Matt Hickman (Brownbear) called Home Sweet Scotland and features some of the most exciting new talent in Scotland. The line up includes: Brownbear, Bemz, Paix, Becky Sikasa, and Washington. The artists come from across multiple genres that all have lived experience of growing up differently in Scotland. The event is part of the Refugee Festival Scotland which takes place every year in June to celebrate World Refugee Day. The Festival is a celebration of the food and drink, music and poetry, art, dance, language and ideas that people bring with them when they settle in Scotland. Doors are 6pm And tickets are £12/£10 on the door

Brownbear

One Ren’s Artist Meet-ups, Sma’sh Hits is on Wednesday from 7pm. The event is a music collective intended for musicians and music practitioners who are interested in meeting other artists to collaborate, share practise and nurture talent. Join the Sma’sh Hits monthly open mic showcase at The Bungalow on the last Wednesday of the month. Free entry. 

Mills, Eve Davidson, Mya Brown and Luna J perform for Thursdays Bungalow Introducing Night. Tickets are £5/£3 for students, and available on Eventbrite and on the door. Opens 7pm. 

The Keg have the very popular Warren Capaldi back to play again tonight from 9pm and tomorrow night at the same time of 9pm and straight from their amazing show at The Bungalow last week it is Mr Db. 

The Cave have Overdrive in tonight from7pm and tomorrow’s double bill is Sad Ida from 6pm followed by Midnight Moses from 9pm till late (maybe Midnight) On Sunday Jim Keilt brings his jam buddies to The Cave for another legendary Blues Jam from 6pm. 

The Old Swan have Distant Sun tonight at 7pm and tomorrow from 2pm it is a Summer Sizzler all dayer. There are live acts in the Music Garden from solo artists and DJs. Inside is The Festivals and Strictly UB40. Clyde are in their usual resident spot at 5pm on Monday. Tuesday and Thursday Lee James will be singing from 3pm on both days. 

If you missed Blind Panik last week at The Anchor, don’t panic (sorry) you can see them at Kennedys on Sunday from 3pm. Back in the Day are at The Anchor from 4.30pm.

This week’s Open Mic sessions are: Abbey Bar on Monday with Dunky Hunter at 8pm, Jason Flood is hosting at Gantry on Tuesday from 9pm, Johnny Barr will be at The Keg from 8.30pm. Have a great week and Keep Music Live.
