Renfrewshire residents who are feeling the pinch or just want to make their most of their money have the chance to get all their questions answered under one roof.

Make The Most of Your Money Day, Wednesday 9 November, will see a host of advice and information on offer on everything from claiming benefits to rising fuel bills, or even just running a home.

Pop in to Paisley Town Hall any time between 10am and 7pm on the day for the chance to speak to:

  • Renfrewshire Council’s Housing and Council Tax Benefits teams
  • The Pension Service
  • Advice Works
  • Trading Standards
  • JobCentre Plus
  • FLAIR Welfare Rights Service
  • Citizens Advice Bureau
  • Energy Advice Centre Scotland advice centre, and many more.

Councillor Allan Noon, Renfrewshire Council’s Finance Spokesperson, said: “In the current economic climate we all need to be managing our money as best we can. Particularly if you are facing redundancy or are newly unemployed, it is vital to plan your next steps. The good news is that there’s loads of help at hand and we’ve brought it all under one roof to make it as easy as possible for local residents to speak to the right people for advice.

“You can get help with all sorts of money queries, including a full benefit check to find out if you’re receiving everything you’re entitled to, advice on heating bills and ways to save energy. Renfrewshire-wide Credit Union will be there with information on low-cost loans, pre-paid debit cards, help with paying bills and discounts on energy-saving household goods. There’s no need to make an appointment just pop in for a chat and a cup of tea.”

Make The Most of Your Money Day is being held as part of Renfrewshire Money Week, a series of events running throughout Renfrewshire between Monday 7 November and Friday 11 November.

Local residents are also being reminded to look out for the Renfrewshire Money Bus, which will be out and about throughout the week with information and advice on issues such as benefits, debts, energy efficiency, housing costs and managing your money.
