Renfrewshire Council Press Release:
Jingle Bell Fun Run

Hundreds of runners in festive fancy dress took to the streets of Paisley this weekend for Renfrewshire’s annual Jingle Bell Run.

Runners donned their Santa hats as well as their trainers to take part in the 3km fun run on Saturday 5 December.

Provost Celia Lawson officially started the race on Abbey Close outside Paisley town hall while inside Accord Hospice ran a Christmas craft fayre.

Provost Lawson said: “This was our second year holding the Jingle Bell Run and it really is a great festive family event. It’s lovely to see all the runners in their Christmas outfits as well as their family and friends out supporting them in Paisley town centre.”

The Jingle Bell Run is part of Renfrewshire Council’s Active Renfrewshire campaign which aims to give people more opportunities to get active.

Councillor Susan McDonald, Renfrewshire Council’s Sports Champion, said: “There are so many different ways for people to lead active lifestyles and as well as the health benefits the important thing is that they enjoy themselves. Events like the Jingle Bell run are a fun way to take part in a physical activity and it is something that people of all ages can do either on their own or with friends and family. Active Renfrewshire is about making it easier for people to try new sports or keep up an active hobby by providing as many different opportunities as possible.”
