Crowds are set to celebrate Scotland’s Summer of Sport at Barshaw Gala Day with an afternoon packed full of exciting activities for all the family.
Taking place on Saturday 20 June, from 12 noon to 5pm, Barshaw Park will be a hive of activity as the local community comes together for one of the highlights on the calendar.
There’ll be plenty to keep everyone busy with a number of local clubs providing fun sports activities for free, including football, hockey, basketball, rugby, American football and volleyball. The funfair is back for thrill seekers young and old, and there will be a selection of inflatables along with free drop-in arts and crafts workshops and face-painting.
Barshaw Park will host a very special visitor when Finnie, the Glasgow 2026 mascot, pops along to say hello. She’ll be helping everyone get excited for the upcoming Commonwealth Games and posing for photos until 3pm.
No gala day is complete without stalls, and we’ll be showcasing the best of the area with stalls from local traders, community groups and charities. Police Scotland Youth Volunteers will be offering bike registrations so bring your bike along on the day.
There will be a variety of local performers to enjoy across the afternoon on the live stage hosted by Paisley Radio, and if you fancy a boogie don’t miss the free drop-in silent discos playing a variety of themed music across the afternoon.
Family and friend groups can go head-to-head in a classic school sports day challenge running throughout the day. Visit https://www.renfrewshire.gov.uk/barshaw-gala for more information and to book.
This year’s Gala Day is sponsored by TrustFord Glasgow.
Public transport to Barshaw Park is available with a number of bus stops conveniently located on Glasgow Road. Please consider using public transport or active travel as parking in the area is limited. There is limited parking available within the park for blue badge holders.
