Ready, set, go! Renfrew Gala Day is back at Robertson Park on Sunday 7 June with an exciting array of sports-based activities to celebrate Scotland’s Summer of Sport.

To kick-start the day, a parade featuring 200 community members and professional performers will set off from Trinity High School at 12 noon and travel to Robertson Park via Renfrew High Street. Don't miss the colourful butterfly and dragonfly stilt-walkers and the giant, fantastical ‘Summer Birds’.

In the park there’ll be plenty to keep everyone busy with football activities from Street Stuff and come and try tennis sessions with Renfrew Development Trust. The funfair is back for thrill seekers young and old, and there will be a selection of inflatables along with free drop-in circus skills workshops and a sports-themed circus cabaret.

No gala day is complete without stalls, and we’ll be showcasing the best of the area with stalls from local traders, community groups and charities.

The McMaster Centre tearoom will be open on the day and will be serving cakes and a selection of drinks. Renfrew Burgh Band will be playing in the sensory garden opposite the McMaster Centre at 1pm and 2:30pm.

There will be a variety of performances to enjoy across the afternoon with two live stages featuring local musicians and dancers, programmed by Fitzpatrick School of Music and Rachel Elliot.

The Scottish BMX School will be offering BMX workshops in the park, and family and friend groups can go head-to-head in a classic school sports day challenge. Visit www.renfrewshire.gov.uk/renfrew-gala for more information and to book.

Public transport to the park is available with a number of bus stops conveniently located around Robertson Park on Inchinnan Road and Paisley Road.

This year’s Gala Day is sponsored by TrustFord Glasgow.
